Introducing Houston Acupuncturist Lora Tod

Lora TodLora Tod graduated Summa Cum Laude with the combined degrees of Bachelor of Science in Nutrition and Master of Science in Oriental Medicine from the Midwest College of Oriental Medicine, Chicago, Illinois, in January 2007. She also holds the board certification of Diplomate of Oriental Medicine from the National Certification Commission for Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine (NCCAOM.)

Originally from a business background, Lora found her way to Traditional Chinese Medicine (acupuncture, Chinese Herbs, and associated modalities) by embracing alternative therapies for her own health, and really seeing the impact that energy work and lifestyle changes can make on many chronic conditions. Lora completed over 900 hours of practical training in the Midwest College's free student clinic in the inner-city of Chicago. In this setting she treated hundreds of patients with long-term chronic pain and complex internal medicine problems, with great results. Lora has also had additional training in the Mei Zen facial and abdominal protocols.

Lora spent most of her childhood in Michigan, and spent nine years in Chicago before moving to Houston in February 2007, because of her husband's job transfer. While originally nervous about the move, Lora is enjoying getting to know Houston, and is especially excited about the opportunity to work at Innate Chiropractic.

Lora holds two additional degrees from the University of Michigan: a Bachelor of Arts in Economics and a Master of Health Services Administration. In her free time Lora likes to read, exercise, and watch movies.

Dr. Jackie Asks some important questions of interest to Houston residents - Chiropractor Houston Dr. Jackie Asks...

What can a chiropractor do for asthma?
Many people think of chiropractic as exclusively dealing with the spine. But I'm interested in the spine because it covers the nervous system. Problems in the spine can produce problems in the organs and tissues controlled by the affected nerves—including those to the lungs and bronchial tubes. Find out how chiropractic care has helped those with asthma.
Are chiropractors just concerned with the spine?
Our interest in the spine is because it covers the major communications conduit between your brain and your body. As a Houston chiropractor my job is to locate areas (usually along the spine) that interfere with proper nerve communications to and from your brain. Chiropractic adjustments help restore nervous system integrity. In this way, chiropractic care can affect the function of your entire body.
