| In the majority of cases,
patients receiving chiropractic care will feel better within days,
hours or even minutes. But when you have traveled the rough road
from health to sickness, it is only fair to warn you that the road
back to health may not be entirely free of obstacles and dissappointments.
The good news is that healing, although not always comfortable,
is always rewarding!
This "Road Back to Health" process
often takes time - days, weeks, or even months, depending upon
the extent of damage done or the length of time the condition
has occurred. In the meantime, some pain or discomfort, though
usually mild and temporary, may be experienced. This is known
as "Recovery Symptoms" (new symptoms) and "Retracing"
(old symptoms) and is part of the work of healing, recovery, and
restoration of optimal health.
Rather than becoming discouraged or alarmed
by these symptoms, stay on the positive track! Your chiropractor's
acceptance of your case is your best assurance of his/her faith,
confidence and belief that your condition will respond to chiropractic
care.
Any concern you may have as a result of pain
or discomfort experienced can usually be eased by talking to your
doctor and studying "The Road Back to Health" chart
on the right.
This is further assurance that you are headed
for a new lease on life and that these recovery and retracing
symptoms indicate your condition will soon be but a fading memory.
Symptoms are not always "bad" but are often a sign that
you are healing. One of the best "things to do" for
your symptoms is to acknowledge it and "just be with it"
knowing that improved quality of life is on the way!
Yours for better health, naturally.
